Shops dealing in meat and fish in Ïewduh, the biggest commercial centre of the State, are set to reopen on rotation basis with strict adherence to health protocols.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner in an order passed today said that opening of these shops will not exceed 15 per cent in one day. However, shops dealing in vegetables will remain closed.
Essential/perishable items are permitted to open twice a week while non-essential and other semi-essential shops are permitted to open only once a week, the order said.
Shopkeepers and staff will also have to display their vaccination status and those not willing to get vaccinated will have to produce the RT-PRC Negative report on every 10 days.
It may be mentioned that the district administration has allowed reopening of Ïewduh since June 18 wherein out of around 4,000 shops in the market only 1,222 were allowed to open on rotation basis. On an average 185 shops are opened in a day on the basis of A, B, C alphabets. Out of 550 vendors operating on footpaths in this market, only 184 of them were allowed in a day.
