Shillong, Aug 4: Justice was finally delivered in a case of child molestation, with the accused found guilty and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in a case that goes back nearly 11 years.
It was on September 28, 2015 that an FIR was filed at Madanrting Police Station where it was alleged that one Abdul Khudus had sexually molested the complainant’s 7-year-old daughter.
A case was registered under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal intimidation) read with Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act (sexual assault).
The chargesheet was filed in April 2016 and on July 28, 2026 the case came to a conclusion, with the POCSO Special Judge MK Lyngdoh finding Khudus guilty.
For sexual assault, Khudus was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000. For criminal intimidation he was sentenced to 2 years, to run concurrently.
The convict has already undergone two months and one day of imprisonment. He will therefore serve the remaining sentence of two years, nine months and 29 days in jail, police informed today.
