East Khasi Hills recorded 262 new Covid-19 cases today, the highest single-day figure in more than one month.
Eighty-three of the new cases were reported from Mawlai Motsyiar’s Oriens Theological College.
The number of new infections is higher than it has been since 272 were recorded on May 31. The seven-day rolling average of 168.14, however, is only at its highest point since June 20.
In all there were 489 new coronavirus cases in the state today, along with 632 recoveries (the highest since June 21) and seven fatalities.
West Jaintia Hills reported 71 new infections, West Garo Hills 57, Ri-Bhoi 44, West Khasi Hills 13, South Garo Hills 12, East Jaintia Hills nine, South West Garo Hills seven, North Garo Hills five, South West Khasi Hills five and East Garo Hills four.
East Khasi Hills recorded 182 recoveries, West Jaintia Hills 105, West Garo Hills 104, Ri-Bhoi 84, West Khasi Hills 43, South West Khasi Hills 36, East Garo Hills 31, North Garo Hills 17, East Jaintia Hills 12, South West Garo Hills nine and South Garo Hills nine.
Five fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills along with one each in Ri-Bhoi and West Jaintia Hills.
There are now 4,434 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,540 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 753, West Jaintia Hills 589, West Garo Hills 498, North Garo Hills 270, West Khasi Hills 174, East Garo Hills 173, South West Khasi Hills 141, South Garo Hills 106, East Jaintia Hills 100 and South West Garo Hills 90.
In all, Meghalaya has had 51,524 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,434 are active, 46,228 have recovered and 862 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 89.72 percent. The fatality rate has dipped to 1.67 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has increased to 439.57 and has increased for new deaths to 6.14.
