Shillong, Aug 9: Alertness by traffic personnel and a coordinated naka operation led to the arrest of three persons suspected to be involved in the theft of a Yamaha R15M motorcycle in East Khasi Hills.
On the night of August 6, police said the motorcycle, allegedly stolen from Bivar Road, was seen without a registration plate speeding from Laitlyngkot towards Pynursla and forcing through a no-entry zone.
Traffic personnel gave chase and immediately alerted police manning a naka at Mawlieh Lyngkyrdem. On reaching the spot, police found the suspects allegedly trying to load the bike into a waiting Alto car, DL 3CBC 1793.
Two suspects were arrested on the spot while one managed to flee initially but was later traced.
All three were produced before a court on Friday and remanded to three days’ police custody for further investigation into the theft and attempted disposal of the vehicle.
