Another 390 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Meghalaya today, along with 542 recoveries and four fatalities.
Although lower than the preceding six days, the seven-day rolling average of new cases still went up to 482.86, the highest it has been since June 10. This was the third consecutive day in which the average has risen.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 134 new infections, while the rest of Meghalaya added 256. While the seven-day average in EKH dropped to 172.14, that of the rest of Meghalaya rose back over the 300-mark to 310.71, the highest it has been in June, which is a setback in the state’s fight against Covid-19.
Ri-Bhoi reported 80 new cases, West Jaintia Hills 50, West Garo Hills 49, North Garo Hills 28, East Garo Hills 19, West Khasi Hills 14, East Jaintia Hills eight, South West Khasi Hills five and South West Garo Hills three.
There were also 542 recoveries today – 223 in East Khasi Hills, 59 in West Garo Hills, 54 in West Jaintia Hills, 37 in North Garo Hills, 31 in West Khasi Hills, 31 in South West Khasi Hills, 28 in Ri-Bhoi, 26 in East Garo Hills, 24 in South Garo Hills, 18 in South West Garo Hills and 11 in East Jaintia Hills.
Three fatalities were added to East Khasi Hills’ figures and one in South West Garo Hills. The Covid death toll in June reached 202 with the addition of today’s figures.
There are now 4,587 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,503 active cases, West Garo Hills 728, West Jaintia Hills 582, Ri-Bhoi 492, South West Khasi Hills 284, East Garo Hills 231, North Garo Hills 221, South West Garo Hills 198, South Garo Hills 143, West Khasi Hills 130 and East Jaintia Hills 75.
In all, Meghalaya has had 45,286 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,587 are active, 39,919 have recovered and 780 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 88.15 percent. The fatality rate has decreased to 1.72 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has increased to 482.86 and has dropped for new deaths to 6.71.
