There have been 17 children up to the age of 14 who have died while positive for Covid-19, Health Minister AL Hek informed today.
In all, there have been 5,101 infections in this age group.
The government plans on setting up special paediatric wards in Ganesh Das Hospital and health institutes in Tura and Jowai, the minister said.
Three infants who were Covid-positive have died in the last month in Meghalaya. One four-year-old girl also died yesterday.
