Restrictions due to Covid-19 will continue to apply in South West Khasi Hills until at least June 7, the District Magistrate announced through a promulgation of prohibitions today.
Curfew will continue to apply from 9pm to 5am on the affected days, no political, public, social or religious gatherings are permitted, weddings are not permitted, funeral gatherings are to be restricted to 10 people with prior permission, entry of tourists is banned, all tourist spots must remain closed, international border trade at Borsora, Bagli and Cheragaon remain suspended and sports activities prohibited.
In-situ construction for government and private projects that do not involve movement of labourers are allowed, subject to prior permission from the authorities. Farming activities, rural employment guarantee scheme (MGNREGS) work and other essential services are permitted.
All markets will remain regulated. Shops selling essential commodities in neighbourhoods are allowed to open but all shops in the district can open only from 9am to 5pm. All schools and colleges shall remain closed. Inter-district movement is not permitted.
