Shillong, Jul 21: The Dorbar Shnong of Pyndenumsaw village in South West Khasi Hills organised a peace rally yesterday to condemn the murder of Snity Wahlang at Mawkhan-Pyndenumsaw.
The rally began from Dommawleiñ and passed through Lawtiehbah, Perjet and Umsaw Domrisai before culminating at the starting point.
Recently police said a 62-year-old man, Bailing Wahlang, was arrested in connection with the murder of his 56-year-old sister. The victim’s body was found with multiple stab injuries on Sunday.
According to police, the accused had been missing since the incident and was later tracked down and apprehended at Rohbah village by locals.
During a medical examination at Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital, Wahlang allegedly admitted to the crime. His clothing and blood samples were collected as evidence. Police also said that, during interrogation, he agreed to recover the weapon used in the crime.
