Nongpoh, Jul 23: Ri-Bhoi Police are searching for four persons in connection with the assault and murder of a man from Assam in Byrnihat.
The accused have been identified as Chitro Sangma (20), Nipul Sangma (20), Tobias Marak (21) and Chigring Momin (21), all residents of Dahel Bagan, Byrnihat.
According to a police statement issued today, the accused allegedly assaulted Puskaki Gurung alias Puski, a resident of Kamrup district, Assam, at MIDC IB Road, Raja Bagan in Byrnihat on May 31.
Police said the victim was found unconscious by the roadside. He was taken for medical examination but was declared dead.
A case was registered under Sections 103, 131 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
