Several Raj Bhavan staff have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last few days, a situation that is proving challenging to the running of the Governor’s home and office.
On Friday there was mass testing of high-risk contacts of the 18 people who had tested positive on May 24.
Out of 80 high-risk contacts, 25 were found positive, taking the total to 43. Ten of these are children under 15 years old, while three have co-morbidities.
“The second wave of Covid-19 has been challenging for Raj Bhavan. Even a month back at one time there were 28 positive cases out of which 23 have since recovered,” a press release said today.
Most of the positive cases this time are personal staff working in the main building and in service of Governor Satya Pal Malik.
The Governor’s Secretariat and consulting doctor are closely monitoring the situation and “extending help to the affected persons with medical counselling and other support to the families.”
