A Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) kit distribution camp was today held in Khliehriat organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Shillong.
East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner, Abhilash Baranwal who attended the programme in his address stated that a society is judged by how we treat the ones who are less privileged. “Those who are intellectually disabled or disable in any form need all the support that can be offered to them so that they can achieve their potential too”, he said.
He congratulated the District Social Welfare Officer and the Composite Regional Centre CRC Shillong for taking the initiative to conduct the programme aimed at offering the much needed support to the persons who are less privileged and urged them to continue taking such measures so as to ensure that necessary help can be extended to all the disabled.
CRC officer in-charge, Ram Shakal Sahani highlighted the services provided by the CRC, which includes Special Education Department, Clinical Psychology Department, Physiotherapy Department, Training and Mobility, Counseling, Vocational training etc.
“Persons with any type of disabilities can visit the CRC Office and register themselves to get all these services free of cost”, he added.
TLM kits were also handed to beneficiaries with intellectual disability during the programme.
Also present during the programme were R. Passah, District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaiñtia Hills District and Kedius Rymbai, headman of Khliehriat East.
