The Department of Social Work-PG at St Edmund’s College organised an awareness programme on substance abuse on March 16, in Lumdiengjri here, a delayed press release informed today.
In collaboration with the Manbha Foundation and Seng Samla of Lumdiengjri, this programme was sponsored by the Directorate of Social Welfare under the Drug Reduction Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM).
Over 130 people attended the programme, including students from schools and colleges, as well as community members.
Five resource persons, including Dr Rica Lamar, a psychiatrist and founder of Manbha Foundation shared their experiences and expertise on various aspects of substance abuse, including its legal consequences and its effects on individuals, families and society.
The purpose of the event was to promote awareness and encourage the community, particularly youth, to work together to address this issue and promote the well-being of society.
