The Ri Bhoi Students Union (RBSU) today expressed its concern over allegations that fuel is being sold illegally in the district by oil tanker drivers.
The RBSU filed an FIR with district police, urging them to take action.
Speaking to the media persons, RBSU president Everjoy Nongpluh and working president Amberlight Masharing said that the pressure group has strongly denounced the persons involved in such illegal selling of fuel as this will badly affect fuel consumers.
“It is the common man who suffers when there is such malpractice as the owners of the petrol pumps will [shortchange] consumers to make up for their loss,” the RBSU leaders said.
In this connection, the Ri Bhoi students Union in the fire filed to the Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police had urged the Police department to conduct a surprise raid and if found such illegal activities should be punished as per the relevant section of law, they further added.
