The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District has informed that the Padma Awards, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, will be announced on the occasion of the Republic Day 2023.
The awards seek to recognize ‘work of any distinction’ and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in all fields of disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry etc.
All persons without any distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.
Individuals from East Khasi Hills who desire their names to be recommended to the central government for the awards are requested to send their nominations to the DC’s office on or before August 14, 2022. Detailed information may be downloaded from the district website.
