Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem will contest the next council election from Nongthymmai.
Speaking to this reporter, a source from Syiem’s National People’s Party (NPP) who requested anonymity said that the CEM will soon announce that he will contest from Nongthymmai.
The source said Syiem would have a strong chance to retain Sohryngkham but wants to run from Nongthymmai as he is a resident of that constituency.
The source also said that Syiem has been offered full support from supporters of Nongthymmai MLA Charles Pyngrope of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), supporters of the late Latiplang Kharkongor, former MDC of Nongthymmai, including the supporters of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
