Following the various allegations that there is harassment of vehicles carrying goods at the Ranikor border by the BSF, the Hynñiewtrep Achick’s National Movement (HANM) and Hynñiewtrep Youth’s Council (HYC) South West Khasi Hills District inspected the matter.
During inspection, it was learned that hundreds of vehicles are plying daily and there are suspicions that there is illegal transportation of goods to Bangladesh.
The two organisations, while lauding the Border Security Force (BSF) for being vigilant and checking such illegalities, also criticised that the BSF is carrying out the checking in residential villages that has only resulted in an extreme traffic snarl and caused inconvenience to many.
In this matter, HANM has spoken to the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Mawpat Headquarters, Shillong to relocate the BSF and got the assurance that the matter will be addressed.
The organization has further asked the state government where the hundreds of vehicles taking the goods daily in the Ranikor region.
