Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh today held a meeting with headmen from the various Durbar Shnongs of Shillong West Constituency.
“The meeting was convened in order to elicit opinions from the Durbar Shnongs on the various issues confronting the constituency including the matters relating to development and also concerns regarding the drug menace,” Lyngdoh told media persons.
He said, “There were issues raised about water supply, power supply, LPG connection and distribution, road and traffic. We also discussed the situation that has now become very rampant related to drug users and traffickers in the constituency.”
“In the presence of government officials various concerns were raised and addressed and also we have agreed for spot inspection of the various sites within the constituency for demarcation of traffic junctions and for parking lots to be earmarked,” he added.
Lyngdoh further said that a new initiative will be now to coordinate better with the local durbar.
