The District School Education Office of North Garo Hills today organised a district level exhibition on science, maths and the environment for children in Resubelpara.
In the programme, which was held under the theme ‘Technology and Toys’, Nipon Hajong, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, was the chief guest where in his speech he evoked the need to develop a scientific temperament among the students. The integral relation of science, mathematics and environment in bringing scientific solutions to local problems is evident in our daily lives, he said while urging students to have clarity on the subjects.
He reiterated on the importance of the subjects by highlighting the application of these subjects in solving simple to complex daily problems.
He also pressed upon the teachers to identify progressive students as well as “laggard” students and address their challenges so as to improve their learning capabilities.
Twelve schools from urban and rural areas demonstrated various models based on science, mathematics and environment with different sub-themes.
Christ King Secondary School, Kharkutta, was selected to represent the district at the state level.
