A two-day workshop on “Content and Curriculum Development in the Spirit of NEP 2020” took off at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) here today.
The workshop is jointly organised by NEHU, Vidhya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan, and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, New Delhi and over 100 participants from various colleges and institutes in the state are taking part.
The inaugural session was attended by Pawan Tiwari, organising secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra as the chief guest in the presence of NEHU vice chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla.
In his speech, Tiwari encouraged participants to embark on a journey to equip educators to inculcate critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, communication, and several other 21st century skills through the exploration of alternative pedagogies involving learning by doing, teamwork etc., and through the integration of vocational education. Such an approach is consistent with the spirit of the policy of empowering students and helping them explore their abilities and interests in a holistic manner, he said.
Shukla highlighted the basic aims and emphasized the significance of NEP. He mentioned its basic objectives of bringing down the drop-out rate by ensuring proper infrastructure facilities and appropriate training to the teachers.
The technical session of the workshop included introduction on NEP and the need for revamping content and curriculum, learning based outcomes and learning experiences for inclusive curriculum development, use of AI for content development and importance of language in transforming India.
