Shillong, Nov 3: The North East Adventist University (NEAU) in Khliehtryshi, Thadlaskein, West Jaintia Hills District, celebrated National Unity Day with great enthusiasm and fervour, honouring the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of united India.
The event was organized by the departments of Education and History, showcasing the university’s commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere and promoting cultural heritage.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Paul Bhaggien emphasised the importance of unity in diversity, highlighting the university’s efforts to encourage students to embrace their cultural heritage while working towards common goals.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui graced the occasion, underscoring the significance of National Unity Day and the need for unity in a region characterized by its rich cultural diversity. He praised the scenic beauty of Northeast India and highlighted the potential for educational excellence and cultural tourism.
The attendees participated in a symbolic pledge of unity, reinforcing their commitment to fostering collaboration and understanding among various communities in India.
The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances, folk songs, traditional hut display, and traditional food sale, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of India.
