Shillong, Aug 24: A Special POCSO Court in West Jaintia Hills has sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old minor in 2022.
Special Judge (POCSO) P. Syngkon on August 18 convicted Salwi Shadap of Ionglwit village and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000
The case was lodged at Nartiang Police Station. According to police, on January 15, 2022, around 12:30 pm, the accused entered the victim’s house when her mother was away for a meeting. On the pretext of asking for drinking water, he overpowered the minor inside the bathroom and raped her.
The incident came to light on January 26 when her mother found her torn and blood-stained clothes.
