Shillong, Sep 2: The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), NEHU, felicitated successful entrepreneurs nurtured by the centre at a programme held on August 31, followed by an awareness session on “Entrepreneurship and Start-Up”.
Five entrepreneurs – Roshni Kharshiing, Habandajop Rynshnong, Ailashisha Khymdeit, Lapynhun Lyngdoh Mawlong and Ruel Kharbudnah – who received grants and funding from government agencies and venture capitalists, were felicitated. They shared their journey and challenges in building enterprises.
Vice Chancellor in charge Prof S K Barik attended the programme as chief guest in the presence of Registrar in charge Prof Lakhon Kma, Dean, School of Technology Prof D Kandar, Techsoul Pvt Ltd CEO Ajay Kumar Gupta, Project Leader Prof Dinesh Bhatia and Coordinator Prof SS Ray.
Speakers at the programme said entrepreneurship is about identifying opportunities, creating value and transforming ideas into sustainable ventures, requiring determination, risk-taking and resilience.
Established in 2023 and sponsored by MSDE, supported by NEC, DoNER Ministry and IIE Guwahati, the EDC has motivated over 500 youths in the region.
An awareness talk by Ajay Kumar Gupta and exhibition stalls showcasing local products including food, jewellery, wine, home decor and organic juices and honey were also part of the programme.
