A one-month black pottery making training programme under the Handicraft Promotion Scheme of 2023-2024 has concluded, with 20 trainees receiving their certificates and toolkits to take their newly acquired skills forward.
The training was imparted by Helme Shylla, a state awardee, at her pottery training centre in Tyrshang village, West Jaintia Hills.
The certificates and toolkits were distributed to the trainees by the General Manager of the District Commerce and Industries Centre, Jowai, B Warjri, and SE Kharpran, the DCIC Functional Manager.
Warjri encouraged the trainees to utilise the acquired skills in preserving the traditional craft.
The pottery training centre of Shylla’s was funded by the Directorate of Commerce and Industries under the same Handicraft Promotion Scheme 2023-24.
