Shillong, Aug 14: Local bakery and plant-based foods brand Roi Plants & Bakes on Friday inaugurated its new outlet at Shangpung, Laskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District.
The outlet is the first enterprise established with support from PRIME Meghalaya.
Raliang MLA Comingone Ymbon, headman of Shagpung M. Passah, and officials from PRIME Meghalaya attended the inauguration.
Speaking on the occasion, Ymbon lauded the growth of Roi Plants & Bakes and said local enterprises reflect the entrepreneurial potential of the region’s youth. He commended PRIME Meghalaya for supporting homegrown businesses and urged more young entrepreneurs to avail benefits under CM-ELEVATE schemes.
Founded by Nidaroi Wann in 2022 as a home-based bakery, Roi Plants & Bakes specialises in customised celebration cakes and sugar-free cakes for health-conscious and diabetic customers. The brand has built its customer base through direct sales, social media, and participation in exhibitions, and won first prize at the First Shillong Cake Show in 2023.
Under PRIME’s incubation, the enterprise received mentoring, guidance on statutory compliance, packaging and labelling, and support for food product testing. Wann was also named among the Top 35 in the Chief Minister’s E-Championship Challenge 6.0 and received a business support grant of ₹2 lakh.
The new outlet has created employment for over 5 individuals. Wann expressed gratitude for the support, saying it helped her venture grow from home-based to a full-fledged outlet, and hoped her journey would inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.
