Tumpa Nath of Ambrose Memorial Secondary School, Khliehriat was adjudged the winner of the District Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition held in Khliehriat.
The second and third prize went to Mehek Ansari of Little Star Secondary School, Ladrymbai and Baphindarisha Dkhar of Khliehriat Higher Secondary School respectively.
The exhibition was organised on March 11 by the office of the District School Education Officer for the students of secondary schools under the theme “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future” at Jaintia Eastern College.
The event aimed at providing a hands-on learning experience, encouraging critical thinking, fostering creativity, developing communication skills, promoting teamwork and allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems.
Students from different schools across the district participated in the exhibition that included topics such as strategy for reducing the amount of Sulphur-dioxide and Nitrogenoxide in the Atmosphere, Healthy living, Food, Fitness and Hygiene for a better life, Early Warning System of Earthquakes, Domestic Waste Management, Impact of Deforestation and the importance of Reforestation, etc.
Certificates and cash awards were given to the winners and certificates of participation were also distributed to all the other participants. Mementos for participation were also given to the schools who participated in the exhibition.
Present during the exhibition were Assistant Soil & Water Conservation Officer R. Laloo, Assistant Professor of Jaintia Eastern College Nishwa Rymbai, Block Technology Manager from Agriculture Department Academy Sutnga, Special Educator Salanbor Kamar, officials from District School Education Office (SDSEO), teachers, students and others.
