A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly making anti-national statements related to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on Tuesday.
Thirty-year old Simon Shylla, a resident of Umlyngka locality was arrested by the special cell of the East Khasi Hills police after he posted anti-national comments on a video aired by a TV news channel, Northeast Live News.
Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem said Shylla through his facebook account named, ‘Man Shylla’ made the comments by supporting the terrorists in their killing and exhorting terrorists to initiate such attacks on a particular community in the North East, threatening the unity and integrity of the country.
Police seized two mobiles from his possession and a case has been registered at Lumdiengjri police station under sections 113(3)/196(1)(a)/147 BNS.
The person will be produced to Court tomorrow, Syiem said.
