The life murder convict, who had escaped from Jowai District Jail was arrested today.
Shiningstar Pala of Wahiajer, who was lodged in Jowai district jail made an escape from the premises on June 22 at around 2:30 afternoon when he was taken out for washing an ambulance of the prison by its driver.
It took three days for the police to finally re-arrest him even as a manhunt started from the day he escaped. With the support from family members and consistent effort from the police special team tracking him was successful, police said.
The prisoner was convicted in the abduction and murder of his 9-year old brother-in-law from Umjalasiaw village. He along with his accomplice, Pynchemi Phawa had abducted the child on June 26, 2018. The body of the minor was recovered from Laher village in West Karbi Anglong, Assam on June 28, 2018.
