The KVK Ri-Bhoi conducted a training-cum-input distribution on natural farming as part of a 100-day action plan at Umsaitphrah village yesterday.
Forty farmers from the village took part and were trained on different methods of natural farming, which are low cost and environment friendly, with use of inputs like cow dung and cow urine of locally reared cows. They were also given practical demonstrations on the method of preparation of organic fertilisers and organic pesticides by agronomy specialist Meghna Sarma.
Sprayers and watering cans were distributed to the farmers along with leaflets on natural farming written in the local language.
