Shillong, May 16: The administrative building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) located in Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills district was inaugurated today by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
In his address, Dhar stressed that the newly constructed facility will help expand activities and services for farmer welfare on a larger scale.
During the event, the deputy chief minister presented the Best NICRA Farmers’ award to Blossom Nongrum for adopting climate-resilient practices.
A workshop under the National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) was also held on the theme, “Empowering Smallholder Farmers with Climate Smart Practices”.
Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) from ICAR, New Delhi Dr. Rajbir Singh, who joined the proceedings virtually, underscored the significant interest in climate-resilient farming.
The programme also included a technical session and a showcase of NICRA technologies on the topic “Enhancing Food Security and Livelihood of Small and Marginal Farmers through Climate Smart Agriculture Practices.”
