Shillong, May 16: A two-week training workshop on Geospatial Technology and Applications concluded at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) yesterday.
Jointly organized with the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), the event aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of geospatial technologies relevant to research and sustainable development.
The workshop featured lectures and hands-on sessions conducted by experts from NEHU and NECTAR. Topics such as GIS fundamentals, digital imaging, and cartography were covered. Notably, practical sessions emphasized satellite image interpretation and GIS-based map preparation.
The second week placed a particular focus on field-based applications, demonstrating real-time data acquisition techniques using GPS and mobile applications, thus highlighting the essential nature of geospatial technology in effective decision-making processes.
