Kiang Nangbah Government College is the only institution in the State and fifth in North East to have started the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).
This was informed by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) consultant, Dr. SR Lyndem who spoke at the 57th foundation day celebrations of the college held on September 16..
ITEP was launched by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in 57 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) from the academic session 2023-24 throughout the country. It is a flagship programme which aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to address the diverse needs of students.
Lyndem said that the Kiang Nangbah College has now gone beyond the parameters of NAAC because of the introduction of ITEP.
Principal of the college, Dr EM Blah who spoke on the occasion announced that the ITEP will commence this academic year.
During the occasion, two rank holders from the Mathematics and Botany departments, Salansi Pohleng and Shandakabiang Lyngdoh, three teachers—Dr JP Sharma, LD Lyngdoh and SMF Blah—who served the college for more than 25 years, were felicitated on the occasion.
Lyndem and R. Mawroh, Principal Consultant RUSA, DHTE, Meghalaya (in absentia) were honoured in recognition of their assistance to the college.
