Jowai, Apr 14: The Jowai Fire Service and Emergency Service Station and Amlarem Fire Service and Emergency Service Station observed Fire Service Day at their respective offices today.
The observance was held on the theme, ‘Safe Schools, Safe Hospitals and Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Prevention’.
Homage was paid to the brave fighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. The officers and Fire Service personnel of Jowai, led by Inspector Gauri Shankar Singh, observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect and remembrance, honouring the sacrifices made by the Fire Service personnel across the country.
As part of the programme awareness activities were carried out to educate the public on fire protection and safety practices. Pamphlets containing the important fire guidelines were distributed to the public.
The observance at Amlarem was led by Station Officer Tipmon War in the presence of Sub-Officer Robert Rymbui and Fire Service personnel. A moment of silence was also observed to pay homage to fallen firefighters.
