North Liberty Higher Secondary School in Mookyrdup, Jowai, began its silver jubilee celebrations yesterday while also honouring its students who passed the MBOSE examinations this year.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, Joint Director of School Education and Literacy AP Syiem, school faculty, students and their families.
The school began operations on March 1, 2000 with just 28 students in nursery, kindergarten and Class 1. Since then the institute of learning has grown and there have been 16 students from North Liberty to have taken top positions in MBOSE exams since.
Principal Richard B Uriah also informed the guests that the school has not only done well academically but has also excelled in sports, with its students shining in athletics and football especially.
