      Jowai, Sep 26: As part of the Swachh Seva 2025 campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, an exhibition on ‘Best Out of Waste’ was held today at the Chutwakhu Indoor Hall in Jowai, organised by Jowai Municipal Board.

      Students displayed innovative models, posters and demonstrations highlighting the importance of waste management, recycling and sustainable practice.

      The programme was graced by cabinet minister and local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, who inspected the exhibition and interacted with the students.

      DV Lyngdoh, Jowai Municipal Board (JMB) CEO, informed that the Swachh Hi Seva 2025 campaign, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 is being observed from September 17 to October 2, 2025 and the JMB is conducting various activities including cleaning public toilets, school washing programmes and grading schools and localities on their waste management practices.

      Addressing the gathering, Shylla praised the JMB team for their effort and leadership in transforming the Jowai Municipal Board into an efficient and proactive institution. He also thanked the community leaders, local representatives and residents of Jowai Town for their continued support in the Board’s initiatives.

      He emphasised that waste management is a shared responsibility and underscored the role of students as future ambassadors of cleanliness. Shylla also announced that the Board is on the verge of implementing a scientific and sustainable waste management system, ensuring a cleaner and healthier urban environment for all.

      The winners of the exhibition received certificates and cash prizes. HK Singh Memorial Higher Secondary School, Jowai secured the first prize along with a cash award of Rs 30,000, Khimmusniang Presbyterian Secondary School, Jowai won the second prize with cash award of Rs 20,000 while Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jowai took the prize with a cash award of Rs 10,000.

      The best performing School in waste management was honoured with a certificate and cash prize. St. Mary Mazzarello Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Jowai secured the first prize with cash award of Rs 70,000 while North Liberty Higher Secondary School Jowai won the second prize of Rs 50,000 and the third was jointly shared by Tpep Pale English School, Jowai, Khimmusniang Presbyterian School, Jowai and HK Singh Memorial School, Jowai each receiving Rs 25,000.

      Accordingly, the Best performing localities in waste management were also recognised by the JMB and awarded with cash prizes. Chiliang Raij locality secured the first prize with cash award of Rs 70,000, followed by Tpep Pale Locality which won the second prize of Rs 50,000 and Lumkyrwiang claimed the third prize receiving Rs 35,000.
