The special immunisation drive, known as the Intensified Indradhanush Immunisation 5.0 began today in West Jaiñtia Hills.
Additional Deputy Commissioner HML Kynta launched the programme here at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital at Panaliar.
Speaking as the chief guest, Kynta reminded the gathering that the immunisation campaign will be conducted in three rounds of six days each at all health centres free of cost and she encouraged parents and pregnant mothers to avail this opportunity and get vaccinated during the campaign at their nearest health centre.
Paediatrician Dr E Suchiang emphasised the importance of immunisation in protecting children from infectious diseases. He encouraged parents and mothers to seize the opportunity to safeguard their children’s health and wellbeing.
Dr Helen Uriah, District Maternal and Child Health Officer, emphasised the significance of the immunisation card, urging the parents to carry it whenever they visit for immunisation for easy monitoring of an individual’s immunisation and helping parents stay on schedule with their child’s immunisation. She also informed that the immunisation campaign will be held in three phases from August 7 to August 12, September 11 to September 16 and October 9 to October 14, 2023.
