The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) was awarded with the Economic Times Government Digitech Award 2023 in the category of education to students using digital solutions.
NEDFi won gold in this category for its ‘Advancing North East’ initiative, which was initiated, conceptualised and funded by the North Eastern Council.
NEDFi is executing the portal and through it and its mobile app, NEDFi has been providing career mentoring support to more than 10 lakh students of the North East and also working on their capacity building in terms of employment and entrepreneurship. North East state governments have also joined hands with NEDFi in this endeavour.
The award has been instituted to recognise the innovative digital initiatives to governance and services on demand and to empower citizens of the central ministries/departments, state/Union territories, districts, local bodies and central and state government public sector undertakings.
This year was the fourth edition of the award and 300 digital initiatives from 20 states participated in 15 different categories of digital services. A jury constituted of former senior bureaucrats, notable personalities from industry and faculty from Indian Institutes of Management evaluated the initiatives on the criteria of innovation, relevance, impact, inclusivity and replicability.
On NEDFi’s behalf, the award was received by Executive Director SK Baruah, General Manager Lemli Loyi and Assistant Manager Prithviraj Neog at the award ceremony in Goa on Saturday, a press release stated today.
