The Indian Air Force today resumed its relief operations for the flood victims of Sikkim from Air Force Station Bagdogra under the Eastern Air Command.
One Chinook Helicopter carrying NDRF personnel, search and rescue equipment, fuel, medicine and critical supplies of the Indian Army reached Sikkim, Defence PRO Wing Commander Sreeprakash J said.
He said air assets of the IAF are deployed to transport the stranded tourists to safer locations and critical supplies across the state.
After the weather conditions improved by 0800hrs in the morning, IAF evacuated 217 tourists to safer locations, in a span of five hours.
The relief operations also included transportation of five tons of critical supplies meant for Indian Army, NDRF and the state government.
