The Ri-Bhoi Students Union (RBSU) has issued a fervent appeal to the Public Works Department (PWD) to address the deplorable condition of the Bhoirymbong-Khyndewso Road and the stretch from Nongthymmai to Mawbsein villages.
RBSU president Everjoy Nongpluh noted that the road had deteriorated to such an extent that it was riddled with potholes, severely hampering transportation for locals.
The state government has already sanctioned funds for the blacktopping of this road, he added, but delays in execution have compounded the people’s difficulties.
“We are deeply concerned about the plight of those travelling on this severely damaged road. While we await the government’s re-estimate for blacktopping, we implore the PWD to take proactive steps to address the immediate issue through temporary repairs. It is imperative that this rough road no longer poses a threat to the well-being of our people,” he added.
