Shillong, Oct 9: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) recorded its highest-ever profit after tax of Rs 769.08 crore in the financial year 2025–26 and now accounts for nearly one-third of the power generation capacity in the North East.

NEEPCO highlighted its financial achievements, power generation capacity, upcoming infrastructure projects and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives during the monthly meeting of the inter-media publicity coordination committee (IMPCC), held here today.

As presented during the meeting, NEEPCO has an installed power generation capacity of 2,051 MW in the North East, comprising 1,519 MW of hydropower, 527 MW of gas-based power and 5 MW of solar power. According to data from the National Power Portal, NEEPCO accounts for approximately 32.6 percent of the region’s total installed power generation capacity of 6,298 MW.

The corporation is pursuing several major projects, including the 240 MW Heo, 186 MW Tato-I and 700 MW Tato-II hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh. In the renewable energy sector, NEEPCO is also pursuing a 300 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project at Bikaner, Rajasthan. These initiatives are expected to augment power generation capacity and support India’s clean energy transition.

NEEPCO’s CSR and community development initiatives were also highlighted during the presentation. These activities focus on education, healthcare, sanitation, skill development, community infrastructure and support for economically disadvantaged sections of society.
