Cabinet Minister and Local MLA, Hamletson Dohling yesterday inspected the tarmac road at 5th Mile village, Upper Shillong.
The inspection was carried out following complaints from village elders and residents on the dilapidated condition of the road. Dohling said people deserve better improved roads and hoped that the tarmac road will be a blessing to the residents of the village and will go a long way in the overall development of the village.
It may be mentioned that the 820 metre road is the rehabilitation and resurfacing by black topping of the road including potholes, construction and repair of V – shaped drain, square drain and Cross drain, at an amount of Rs. 30 lakh.
During the day, the MLA also inspected the water filter tank of 5th Mile village which was recently constructed by acquiring land from the agriculture department. He expressed hope that the tank will be a big boon as it will ensure safe and proper drinking water for the residents of the village.
