The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) has sought the attention of Public Works Minister Prestone Tyngsong over a section of road between Photamati and Jangrapaa in West Garo Hills that was washed away in floods last year.
The pressure group wants the damaged section repaired as soon as possible. The road is part of the larger AMPT Road that connects Agia to Tura – a distance of over 150 kilometres.
“The section was washed away last year and now the road condition is completely broken. This has become a nightmare for people travelling between the areas and nearby Tikrikilla. Earlier the road was repaired but the section has been washed away and people face problems in travel for medical emergencies,” said Tengroang Marak, the general secretary of the GSU’s western zone.
