Shillong, Sep 7: To address Garo Hills’ weak performance in Performance Grading Index, the Education Department has flagged inaccurate and delayed data entry as a major hurdle and held a conclave in Tura to streamline reporting.
The conclave chaired by Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri and Director of School Education Richa Kulkarni was attended by additional directors, joint directors, DSEOs, SDSEOs and senior officials.
Officials said reliable assessment depends on timely PGI data entry which remains a challenge. The meeting also reviewed implementation of education schemes, salary and CPF issues and deployment of government teachers in non-government schools.
NGOs, teachers’ associations and schools run by denominations participated and identified gaps.
The conclave stressed closer coordination among government, teachers and stakeholders to improve data systems and quality of education.
