Shillong, Sep 20: A public meeting held at Phlangdiloin village, around 50km from Mawkyrwat, recently demanded immediate blacktopping of the Wahkaji-Phlangdiloin-Langpa road and connectivity between the Phlangdiloin and Ranikor areas.
The meeting, attended by hundreds of residents including traditional heads and prominent leaders of the area, set a six-month ultimatum to the state government to sanction and blacktop the road.
The speakers said the road has existed for about 50 years but has never been blacktopped, despite repeated appeals. They warned that if the government fails to act within six months, they will be forced to take legal action. They also criticised successive governments for neglecting the need for a proper road in the area.
