The Nongtluh-Mathan Development Forum and Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Nongtluh have expressed gratitude towards the government for its commitment to renovate the Nongpoh-Umden-Sonapur road.
The leaders also thanked the residents and supporters of Bindas Syiem who was on an indefinite hunger strike at the parking lot of Additional Secretariat earlier this month to protest against the deplorable condition of the road.
Addressing a press conference in Nongpoh, Mathius Syiem, President of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Nongtluh, and Arnold Syngkli, Convenor of the forum said the protest compelled the state government to commit to undertake renovation of the road.
They also acknowledged the efforts of Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem and Bindas Syiem for leading the hunger strike and said the collective effort has prompted the government to make a promise.
