A new Soil and Water Conservation Beat office was inaugurated in Laskeiñ village, aiming to bolster local conservation efforts across 47 villages under Elaka Raliang.
A land for the beat office, measuring 1, 06,430 square feet, was donated by the Laskeiñ Dorbar shnong.
Soil & Water Minister Marcuis N. Marak during his speech said the office will greatly benefit the people of these areas and will also serve as a local hub for dissemination of information and implementation of developmental schemes by the department. He said it will bring essential facilities closer to the community, reducing the inconvenience of travelling to Shangpung Range office of Soil and water conservation for such needs.
The Minister said the office will also assist the people in soil and water conservation effectively by providing essential resources and technical assistance.
The Minister along with the Local MLA Nujorki Sungoh later planted tree saplings to mark the occasion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner M B Tongper, officials from the department, headman Pynbeitlang Lyngdoh, Daloi Elaka Raliang Chawas Lyngdoh and other dignitaries were among those who attended the event.
