Two children were found murdered and their bodies were recovered at Wahktieh forest in Nongrah. The police found the bodies today and declared the children’s father as the prime suspect of the murders.
The accused has been identified as Jefferson Jana. He was arrested by police hours after he absconded.
According to the relative, the man had taken his two children for a walk yesterday evening as usual. When they did not return home and could not contact the father as his mobile was switched off, the mother immediately filed an FIR with the Rynjah police station at around 11:30 pm.
The bodies of the two children aged four and two were recovered at around 8: 30 am today.
A police team led by Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem rushed to the spot and cordoned off the site. A case has been registered and police are conducting a manhunt to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, the Civil Society Women’s Organisation has condemned the murder and sought immediate arrest of the accused in the case.
