The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has expressed deep concern over the alleged illegal entry of Bangladeshis into Meghalaya through the East Jaintia Hills border.
According to the KSU, some Khasi individuals are involved as agents, facilitating the entry of Bangladeshis into the state in exchange for payment.
The pressure group strongly condemned these touts, stating that their actions undermine the tireless efforts of villagers and local youths to prevent such activities. Furthermore, the KSU claimed that these agents have threatened locals not to interfere with their illicit business.
The KSU has urged the East Jaintia Hills police to prioritise the matter and take swift action against the agents involved. The union has also expressed its full support for the Border Security Force (BSF) in controlling such illegal activities.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about border security and illegal migration in the region.
