Shillong, Jul 27: U Soso Tham auditorium at the State Central Library came alive on Sunday evening as The Art of Living, Shillong Chapter, presented “The Nirvana Station” – a musical extravaganza and bhajan jamming under the World Forum for Art & Culture’s Sattvik Beats initiative.
The programme drew over 500 music lovers. The audience stayed on their feet through much of the evening as the ensemble moved between devotional bhajans, contemporary arrangements and extended live jamming.
The performance was led by acclaimed group The Nirvana Station, fronted by vocalists Anagha Karvir and Anivart Jhunjhunwala. What began as a concert turned into a collective experience, with the audience joining the choruses — a hallmark of the Sattvik Beats format that seeks to make devotional music participatory.
The organisers thanked Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai and Director of Arts and Culture Camelia Doreen Lyngwa for their support and for making the auditorium available. They also acknowledged sponsors, well-wishers, Meghalaya Police for security and traffic arrangements, and the volunteers and technical crew.
The Art of Living Shillong Chapter in a press release said the overwhelming response has encouraged it to plan more cultural and musical initiatives in the city in the coming months.
