A suspected drug peddler was arrested in East Jaiñtia Hills today in possession of 926.40 grams of heroin.
Acting on credible information that a drug peddler was travelling in an Assam registered vehicle AS 24-D-2838 with the suspected contraband concealed inside the vehicle moving from Kalian towards Guwahati.
Police set up roadblocks at Tongseng along NH-06 and stopped the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle 74 soap boxes containing suspected heroin was recovered.
The person identified as Abdul Aziz Barbhuiya of Hailakandi Assam was arrested.
Police said a case has been registered and investigation is on.
