Cases in the 10 districts outside East Khasi Hills increased by 195 today, largely driven by Ri-Bhoi and West Khasi Hills. This was the highest figure for the 10 districts together since August 14.
Statewide, there were 263 new infections, 162 recoveries and one fatality. Today also saw the total number of coronavirus cases in the state cross 80,000.
The lone death was of an unvaccinated person in East Khasi Hills, the Health Department informed.
Ri-Bhoi recorded 89 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 69, East Khasi Hills 68, South West Khasi Hills 16, West Jaiñtia Hills 13 and eight between the other six districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 62 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 61, South West Khasi Hills 18 and 21 between the other eight districts.
There are now 1,968 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 886 active cases, West Khasi Hills 411, West Jaiñtia Hills 274, Ri-Bhoi 225, South West Khasi Hills 88, West Garo Hills 34, East Jaiñtia Hills 26, East Garo Hills 10, North Garo Hills six, South West Garo Hills five and South Garo Hills three.
In all, Meghalaya has had 80,246 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,968 are active, 76,892 have recovered and 1,386 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 95.82 percent. The fatality is 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 184.00 and for new deaths is 2.29.
